Pregnant? Congratulations!

If you have come to this website looking for midwifery care or information relevant to these early weeks of pregnancy, then welcome and I hope you find this site informative and helpful.

Choosing your midwife is an important step along your pregnancy journey. I would encourage you to start the process early so that you have time to meet with two or three midwives as this is often a good way to discover who feels like the best ‘fit’ for you.

Our professional body, the New Zealand College of Midwives (NZCOM) provides excellent information for pregnant women as they begin their search for a Lead Maternity Carer (LMC) midwife. Included are the sections “what to look for in a midwife” and “what you can expect from your LMC”.  NZCOM also provide a database of LMC midwives available in your area. Look under ‘Useful Links’ for NZCOM’s website and browse through that and the many other websites that may inform you and help you to make choices throughout this special time.
